About this qualification

Entry Requirements
This is not set by the CIPD and would vary depending on your chosen study centres own entry criteria.
Duration
Total qualification time is the number of hours it is estimated that a candidate will take to complete a qualification from start to finish and includes guided learning hours, self study, preparation and assessment. This Diploma qualification (37 credits) has a total qualification time of 370 hours which includes 185 guided learning hours. On average it can take 12 months to complete but this will depend on your chosen study centre and mode of delivery.
Level
This qualification is a Level 3 (equivalent to A Level) on the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This is comparable to Level 5 in Ireland, Level 6 in Scotland and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 4.

Membership
 

If studying a Diploma qualification, you will need to join as a Student member throughout the duration of your studies. On successful completion of CIPD Foundation Certificate qualification, you will gain Associate professional membership.

You should select the level based on your level of experience and educational background.

CIPD has 3 types of qualification: Diplomas, Certificates and Awards. The Diploma is the most extensive qualification, Certificates are medium in scope and cover essential units, Awards are the shortest in length and cover one topic.

Study Mode?
Full time - attending taught sessions during the day at least 21 hours per week.
Part time - attending one or two taught sessions per week of between three to four hours.
Blended - study in your own time, using a mixture of support materials including online with periodic face-to-face tutorials and group workshops.
Block - attending a series of taught sessions, usually delivered in blocks of three to five consecutive full days.
Mixed mode - aimed at experienced individuals and enables use of workplace evidence alongside a mixture of learning input and support to suit the needs of the candidate.

If you are studying a CIPD awarded qualification this means CIPD will award you the qualification certificate and if you are studying a CIPD approved qualification the centre (usually a university) will award you the qualification certificate.
